Swinging London

London , world-class city and a great destination for non-stop sightseeing, night´s out on the scene, shopping in the incredible markets, museums, historical sites and so much more. The vast metropolis welcomes you with a mixture of friendliness and indifference as you battle your way around the Tube, the world´s first underground train system, the streets where many cultures and religions meet and where more often than not, tolerance reins…Indeed, London is a place where all trends exist and has lost nothing of its hip and young reputations since the 60s when the city had earned the name of “Swinging London”.

London- just a few places to visit

Whatever your age or preference, you will find many attractions to suit you. Here are some of the most popular attractions in London :
  • Museums – there are many and offer free entry for permanent exhibitions…view world renowned treasures at the British Museum, delight your children with a visit to the Natural History Museum and its much-loved Dinosaur gallery, starting with the skeleton of a Diplodocus in the stunning Central Hall. Tea and cakes are a must at the stunning basement rooms of the Victoria and Albert museum…and a trip to the Tate Modern art gallery is an experience, lying on the banks of the Thames River, great works of Art of the 20th century housed in the imposing, Bankside Power station. From there, cross the Thames by the Millenium Bridge and you arrive practically at the footsteps of St Paul´s Cathedral, known around the world for Royal weddings and ceremonies…
  • Shopping- hardly a tourist comes to London without an intention to shop and most descend on Oxford Street, London´s greatest shopping street. From vast choice of high street fashion to souvenir shops, expect a jam-packed street, take a side street and enter the legendary Soho area, take a turn at one end of the street and find yourself in London´s theatre land and at the other end of Oxford Street, behold Marble Arch and cross over for a stroll into London´s most famous, Hyde Park with Speaker´s Corner, statue of Peter Pan and the Serpentine…
  • London's market

For more shopping, London´s markets in Camden Town, Portobello Road are very popular for their originality and great atmosphere. A great way to spend Sunday is a trip to the rejuvenated Spitafield´s Market, by the City of London. Again, different worlds meet, London´s financial centre shares a frontier with one of London´s Asian communities. Very close by to Spitafield´s, the old flea market on Brick Lane is worth a visit, trendy with lots of places to eat and why not the Sunday Flower market on Columbia Road just another short walk away!
If you are short on time but would like to see many sights as you can fit, a great way to get an overview of London´s major sites is a hop on/hop off ticket on an open-tip double-decker, red tourist bus. Visit Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, Westminster…red buses are everywhere, the iconic Black Taxis but remember too that the River Bus is also a great way to get around London.
